Playgrounds for three generations
A NEW concept to extend the use of children’s playgrounds to adults and elderly citizens has been introduced in Penang.
Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai said that under the concept called ‘Three Generation Play-ground for All’, playing and exercise equipment will also be installed for adults.

“The concept has already been introduced in four Air Itam playgrounds, and the latest one was in Cheeseman Road.
“The positive feedback I received from my first Kampung Melayu project has encouraged me to do the same for several other housing areas.
“It will make exercising convenient for adults as they do not need to travel to Youth Park any more,” he said at the launch of of the Cheeseman Road playground on Saturday.
Wong added that approximately RM10,000 was spent on each playground for the upgrading of the equipment,
Penang Senior Citizens Association president Lawrence Cheah said the new concept would encourage more people to exercise.
Eden Handicap Service Centre unit head S.K. Lee added that members of the centre visited the playground several times a week since it was only a few minutes’ walk away from the centre.
“The upgrade is beneficial to most,” he said.
“However, I hope equipment which can meet the needs of the physically challenged can be made available as well.”

Road（奇斯曼路）住宅區帶來第五個三代同樂公園，為居民帶來運動新元素。
黃漢偉在推介上指出，他第一個是在甘榜馬來由設置 三代同樂設備，結果大受歡迎，老人小孩都流連忘返。
接著陸續在阿依淡區推介了總共5個三代同樂公園，包括發林的玫瑰莊，安樂村，甘榜賽尤索夫，以及奇斯曼路，各耗資1萬令吉。
“以前只有兒童遊樂場，如今加入了運動器材後，適合大人小孩一起使用，為該區提供多一個好去處。”
他也鼓勵奇斯曼路附近的兩個組織，即樂齡人士公會及伊甸殘障中心成員來應用運動設備。

志士曼路草场提升为三代同乐游乐园

已获提升的志士曼路（Jalan Cheeseman）草场是亚依淡区第5个“三代同乐游乐园”，该概念游乐园改变了普通游乐园只供小孩子玩乐的典型概念，继而打造出祖父孙3代能够享受天伦之乐的地方。
亚依淡区州议员黄汉伟表示，3代同乐游乐场顾名思义是祖、父、孙3代能够同聚一堂的享乐地方，而这概念是来自上海的都市公园；在槟城，游乐园都被称为儿童游乐园，设施都是专门小孩们玩乐而已，
但如今三代同乐园建立后，就能让不止小孩前来游玩，而是一家大小都能一同享乐运动。
“以往槟城只有植物园一处拥有这样的设施，与其要民众前往植物园才能使用这样的设施，倒不如把这种游乐园“搬”到你家面前。”
他在出席志士曼路草场3代同乐游乐园推介礼时指出，在亚依淡区只有少数的公园，孩子们没有地方玩耍，所以在2011年时就尝试在亚依淡的甘榜马来由安装运动设施并建立了第一座三代同堂游乐园，意外发现得到不错的回应。
他说，自在甘榜马来由安装第一座三代同乐游乐园后，当地的孩子们都玩得不亦乐乎，尤其是在学校假期时，从早到晚都聚在游乐园内玩耍，当地的居民也能够陪同孩子们一同。
他说，当甘榜马来由安装后获得不错的回应之后，陆陆续续地在安乐村、Desa Mawar及Jalan Shaik Eusoff等建立三代同乐游乐场，而志士曼路是第5座游乐园，而每座游乐园都是1万令吉左右，包括安新设施、修复及从新粉刷旧器材装。
